A 3rd Battalion Royal Irish Regiment marching tenor drum; the painted mahogany shell bearing the regimental motto "Virtutis Namurcensis Praemium", paying homage to the valour of former component regiment the 18th Regiment of the Foot at the Siege of Namur (1695), also bearing a royal coat of arms with the royal motto "Dieu et mon droit" and the military motto "Honi soit qui mal y pense", adorned with battle/campaign honours for Namur (1695), Blenheim, Ramillies, Oudenarde, Malplaquet, Pegu, Sevastopol, New Zealand, Afghanistan (1879-80), Tel-el-Kebir, Egypt (1882) and Nile (1884-85), calfskin drumheads and rope tension system, makers mark for Henry Potter & Co., London, 52cm diameter 41cm tall, offered together with a black leather strap.
