A 1st Battalion Border Regiment marching snare drum; the painted brass shell bearing the regimental badge with the Chinese Dragon at the centre, paying homage to the achievements of the former component regiment, the 55th Regiment of the Foot in the First China War, adorned with extensive battle/campaign honours including for Arroyo dos Molinos (1811), Peninsular, Vittoria, Sevastopol, Ypres (1914, 15, 17, 18), The Somme (1916, 18), Gallipoli (1915-16) and Arras (1917-18), totalling 27 honours, calfskin drumhead with rope tension system, gut snares, paintwork signed K. Nicholls, stamped Premier, England, 38cm diameter, 41cm tall.
