A 2nd Battalion The Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge's Own) marching tenor drum; the painted wood shell depicting the regimental badge with the Prince of Wales Plume above the world Albuhera, paying homage to the actions of former component regiment, the 57th Regiment of the Foot, who earned the nickname "The Die-Hards" for their heroic stand at the Battle of Albuhera, also bearing a royal coat of arms with the royal motto "Dieu et mon droit" and the military motto "Honi soit qui mal y pense", adorned with battle/campaign honours for Mysore, Seringapatam, Albuhera, Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz, Vittoria, Pyrenees, Peninsula, Nive, Nivelle, Alma, New Zealand, South Africa (1879, 1900-02), Inkerman and Relief of Ladysmith, calfskin drumheads with rope tension system, makers mark for Henry Potter & Co., London, 49cm diameter 37cm tall.
