We asked some of the team to choose their favourite sold lots from our successful Antiques & Collectables auction last month.

Lucy's choices

Lot 31: Bill Fisher (Mousehole, Cornwall, 1916 - 2014): a Studio Pottery model of a UnicornSold for £130 hammer.

"I have always loved studio pottery and enjoy the blackened detail and serene profile of this piece."

Lot 211: Kay Finch (American, 1903 - 1994), 'Head of an Afghan Hound', bronze sculptureSold for £90 hammer.

"Kay Finch sounds like a very interesting and influential character in mid-20th century America, breeding over one hundred Afghan Hound champions as well as creating ceramics and Afghan Hound sculptures."

Tom's choices

Lot 239 - A Heritage 'Eagle Custom' archtop hollow body electro-acoustic guitar, c. 2002. Sold for £1,200 hammer.

"This is a phenomenally well crafted, custom designed and built archtop guitar, fitted with a pickup for amplification. With a crisp and warm tone, it's perfect for the discerning player or jazz enthusiast - though it could be used in any context. A pleasure to play and a pleasure to sell!"

Lot 316 - A large oak desk stand carved with Royal Navy plaque. Sold for £40 hammer.

"As maritime memorabilia goes, this is right up there - a beautiful presentation piece for this fantastic working naval telescope. If you need to spot your enemies a way off, this will do the trick."

Nick's choices

Lot 216 - Armand Pierre Fernandez, aka Arman (French / American, 1928 - 2005), 'Violin', bronze sculpture. Sold for £1,000 hammer.

"Armand Pierre Fernandez was the son of an antiques dealer and amateur cellist and from an early age, absorbed a strong appreciation for music and collecting as well as developing discerning taste. He was also gifted in the art of painting and drawing as a child. This sculpture has great presence and sculptural appeal."

Lot 100 - Peter Beard (b.1951); a Studio Pottery vase of organic form with layered wax relief glaze. Sold for £190 hammer.

"Peter Beard makes thrown and hand-built pieces in oxidised stoneware fired to 1280°C, using combinations of matt and semi-matt glazes and coloured clays, built up in layers prior to firing to create textural surfaces. I love the organic form and incredible glaze of this piece."
