Retro entertainment will lead eclectic December auction

01/12/25

The upcoming sale at Henry Adams Auctioneers’ saleroom in Chichester on 11th December is shaping up to be an outstanding event, with diverse collections that feel perfectly timed for the festive season and beyond.

“Our December auction is one I am really looking forward to,” said Nick Hall, Director of Henry Adams Auctioneers and BBC TV antiques expert. “We’ll be offering a fantastic mix of vintage jukeboxes, pinball machines and arcade favourites. Each of these lots could appeal to anyone who enjoys a bit of quirky, retro style in their home or as the perfect gift for the person who has everything. There could certainly be some great entertainment to enjoy with family and friends over Christmas and into the New Year.

“Alongside these, we have an excellent selection of fine wines and Champagnes and some gorgeous Chinese porcelain. Last, but by no means least we have a 1975 Aston Martin motor car! It is rare to see such different collections coming together in one sale and I’m looking forward to being on the rostrum to present them to buyers.”

The standout group of jukeboxes, pinball machines and arcade games offers a sense of nostalgia and entertainment, exactly the sort of features that can transform a games room or bring an extra sparkle to festive gatherings. With interest already building, this collection is expected to appeal to anyone searching for something distinctively different for a party space or even a teenage den.

Buyers with a refined palate and collectors will appreciate the range of vintage Port, cognac, fine wines and Champagnes. Those preparing for the season ahead, as well as specialist retailers sourcing stock for clients, will find a number of vintage bottles with excellent provenance. Several lots could make impressive corporate gifts or thoughtful additions to the Christmas table.

For those with a passion for Chinese porcelain, the selection promises to be a major draw. Its array of delicate, beautifully made pieces is expected to attract interest from both within the United Kingdom and overseas, particularly experienced dealers and private collectors.

The full catalogue will be available online from Friday 5th December, with viewing beginning on Saturday 6th December at Henry Adams’ Baffins Lane saleroom. The auction then takes place on Thursday, 11th December, with bidding available in person as well as online or by telephone by arrangement.

With such a varied mix of style, elegance and nostalgia, this auction promises something extra-special in the lead up to Christmas.
