Dean Crompton (20th century), Ferryside, Fowey, Cornwall, oil on canvas, signed and dated 90, 29cm by 39cm Ferryside was bought by Daphne du Maurier’s father in 1926 as a family holiday home, and it was here where the author wrote her first novel, The Loving Spirit in 1931
