A Chinese red and black lacquered shawl box with gilt embellishments, the outer box decorated with a raised black cartouche containing gilt scholars amongst trees in front of a pavilion, the inner box with polychrome painted decoration of a figure with a basket of flowers over his shoulder approaching two ladies and a child on a threshold, surrounded by a lotus blossom border, 49cm square (a/f)
