George Richard Deakins (British, 1911 - 1982), 'Rural landscape with horse and cart, and a church in the distance', thick impasto on board, by palette knife, signed, artists label verso, 40cm by 60cm, framed.

Deakins served with the Royal Navy from 1927-1957, he began painting while serving on a British cruiser in the Indian Ocean during the 2nd World War, he enjoyed much commercial success and had numerous one man shows all around the world, on leaving the Navy he set his studio up in Dunster, Somerset.
