Attributed to Cecil Aldin RBA (British, 1870 - 1935), 'A portrait of the Queen's favourite horse, "Kintore", in a loose box, with a terrier', oil on canvas, 50cm by 75cm, framed.
Previously sold at Lay's Auctioneers of Penzance, Cornwall, 27th July 2006, lot number 1, where it was catalogued as "The estate of Emily Moore, who commissioned the young Cecil Aldin to paint a portrait of this grey which had been a favourite of Queen Victoria, sold together with a signed and inscribed dedication from Cecil Aldin to Emily Moore in which he acknowledges this first commission", please note the signed dedication is now missing.
Provenance: from the private collection of Christopher Pacey-Day, amassed over the past 60 years, a businessman, councillor, and passionate art collector, from Rugby, Warwickshire, whose late wife was the ballerina Sylvia Lorden.
