A vintage mahogany oval drop leaf Hunt table / Wake table in the 18th century Irish taste, the oblong shaped top with rounded ends and drop leaves supported on eight long cabriole supports terminating on claw and ball feet, 240cm by 42cm opening to 240cm by 147cm.

These popular historic tables transform from a generous, sociable oval dining table to a slim, easily manoeuvrable side table, they could be easily set aside to make space for entertaining, or carried outside to host drinks after a hunt, also known as a ‘Wake’ table for the same practical reasons, but also because it’s folded proportion was perfectly suited to displaying a coffin before a burial.
