Attributed to John Frederick Herring Jnr (British, 1815 - 1907), 'The Four Seasons', a set of four equine oils on canvas emblematic of the seasons, comprising 'Spring' featuring horses, sheep and ducks in a landscape, 'Summer' featuring horses in a landscape, 'Autumn' featuring a harvesting landscape with horses, figures, and dogs, 'Winter' featuring a winter farmyard scene with horses, a donkey and ducks, all cleaned and re-lined, each one 50cm by 75cm, inset matching ornate gilt gesso frames.

Provenance: Private collection of a Lancashire Gentleman for over 45 years and by descent, appearing in a Phillips insurance valuation dated April 1981.
