A bronze bust of Union Army Officer William Rufus Shafter (1835-1906) signed verso Henri Godet (French 1863-1937), 21cm high William Rufus Shafter was a decorated Union Army Officer during The American Civil War, earning the Medal of Honor for Gallantry at the Battle of Fair Oaks (1862). Known for grit and leadership, he rose from a 1st Lieutenant in The 7th Michigan Infantry to brevet Brigadier general by 1865, later commanding US Coloured Troops
