John Wilson Carmichael (British, 1800 - 1868), 'A BRITISH TWO-DECKER HOVE-TO WHILE DROPPING HER PILOT', oil on canvas, signed lower left, artists name and title plaque verso, 39cm by 62cm, cleaned and re-lined, framed (displayed within a 19th century swept gilt gesso frame, also with a second gilt frame, and parts of the original frame).
Provenance: Private collection, we are advised by the vendor that this painting was previously owned by a Mr McDougall, the owner of Clarges Gallery, London, thence to his niece Mrs R G Proes by inheritance, and thence as a gift to the present owner.
